YOu can't leave an animal alive once it starts viewing humans as prey. It looked like the gator was going for the dog but I bet she was holding on to the leash and got attacked too.

So if I understand correctly, the gator had been seen around the neighborhood before, so why hadn't animal control been called and also why would folks not use caution ESPECIALLY by the water?
