Which is why the system needs to be changed. You shouldn't have to tank to acquire young assets.

This is the NBA, the talent pool is not deep enough to discourage tanking, a top 3 pick in a good draft likely has AS potential, while the 12th pick is at best a solid starter most of the time. Not too many great players are rarely available through trade, so getting that franchise/AS player is very hard.

If they tank there's no guarantee they'll get the first pick. Cleveland almost made the playoffs had like a 1% chance of winning and got the first pick.

Who's even the best draft prospect right now?

Jahlil Okafor, taller version of Al Jefferson.
Mudiay, taller version of :russ:
Hezonja, , athletic version of Gallinari

Jahlil is arguragly the best prospect ATM.

No no no just no....these dudes are not necessarily better versions of established players in fact this draft class is heavy on good big men but not to many gaurds...it's not as good as the draft we just had potential wise.

Either way the 76ers are tanking and it's just what it is...they could sign players and be a playoff team easily....well they could of. They could get Monroe and Bledsoe right now but that won't get them no where but on a.treadmill.....I salute there rebuild a lot more than my Cavs rebuild...because we blew so many picks but we lucked up with bron wanting to come home and having kyrie already.

Philly is doing what they're supposed to do though. When your team is mediocre and have no building blocks, you have to tank and acquire picks/young assets. It's retarded to try to be like the Hawks; Knicks, or Heat and try to fake contend. If you have no franchise player and are not a FA destination, you need to have a full fledge rebuild.

One of those is not like the other :stopitslime:

The same Sixers with the cap space to sign Eric Bledsoe outright? Yeah, OK. The NBA has rewarded incompetence for far too long, with much too valuable of a prize. Time to correct the system.

ATL…overly
If Embid can stay healthy for the rest of his career, the Sixers are likely a dynasty in the making. Tank this year, hopefully net a top 3 pick, and sign Affalo for shooting and wing defense.
This below can be their team in 2 years

MCW
Affalo
Hezonja
Noel
Embid

That team above is scary assuming they reach their potential. That length; that athleticism, that defense, that inside out game. :noah: :whew: :merchant: :damn:

Man that team can max out on potential and is a second round team AT BEST. Nobody is scared of that

The Lottery is what it's name implies...somebody's gonna hit the jackpot and it's not always about who has the highest pick, but more tanking just destroys your team & franchise with no assurances that you'll EVER land a top prospect

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...76ers-fighting-nba-push-change-lottery-system

Grantland's Zach Lowe reported earlier this month on the NBA's proposed changes, which are essentially an attempt to squeeze the lottery odds at either extreme toward a more balanced system in which all 14 teams have a relatively similar chance at the no. 1 pick.
Although the NBA likely would not frame the changes this way, they could be seen as an anti-tanking measure, as teams with the worst records might not earn significantly higher lottery odds.
The rough draft of this plan was met with opposition by 76ers management, which is in the midst of a multiseason rebuilding project that is dependent on a high pick next year. The 76ers, sources said, are hoping to get the NBA to delay the plan's implementation for at least a year because it would act as a de facto punishment while just playing by the rules that have been in place.
The 76ers, however, may struggle to gain support from Silver or fellow teams for holding off on the changes. Philadelphia's planned sink to the bottom has caused a drag on revenues in one of the league's largest markets and has upset some other teams, sources said.

A better system that doesn't reward being shytty or go out and build through FA with all that cap space.
I've seen the Cavs SUCK, draft Lebron James, lose Lebron James,(not to mention Lebron forming Voltron in Miami), THEN, get the #1 pick 3 out of 4 seasons, THEN, RE-ACQUIRE Lebron James, & soon, will be acquiring Kevin Love..

And MY SIXERS tank for a few season's worth of lottery picks and NOW THE SYSTEM IS A PROBLEM!?!? :dahell:
