When I was in Thailand I went to a elephant rescue sanctuary where you can sit on top of the elephants bareback (pause) and go for a ride for 8 miles. You have a rope you can use to balance but other than that. You better hope your legs are strong.

Nah. Hunts are necessary in a lot of places where they live. For example, in Namibia and Nepal overpopulation of elephants leads to entire farms losing a harvest to these plundering loxodontas. And maulings occur as well .

And the only way you stop locals from doing the hunting themselves is often to monetize the local elephant population so they are more of a positive to the local community of poor farmers than a loss



Finally, Keep in mind they aren't equally engagered everywhere. For example south African countries and India have tens of thousands to spare whereas east African countries like rawanda have fewer than 100. So it makes sense to hunt them in certain areas more than others .

Nah, there are better ways to deal with them other than hunting. An elephant pregnancy is 18-22 months, they are not wolves that can quickly reproduce.
