All it comes down to, will it break the team or the future of the team?

Right now the Chargers have a favorable position to spend that much on Rivers. The roster is very young and the free agent signings have already been established. There is money to throw and that team is good to go: the roster is set right now and for the next few years with the money looking right. From here on out, the draft is the most vital for supplying the team's great players. I'm completely confident, especially with the way the division looks that this is a play-off team, right now. Don't have to spend another dime.

If this was a year or two ago, no way they throw that kind of money at Rivers, I wouldn't want them to. But because they got a lot of great pick-ups and have hit on their draft picks and coaching staff, no problem at all. Sucks we'll probably lose Weddle, but older safeties aren't the most efficient ways to spend your money.

I'm not familiar with the Giants, but outside of Odell, are there a lot of holes free agency can fix, any youngsters that will probably demand a pay day? Is there a lot of proven players on the team right now that are guaranteed to be on the roster? That's all it comes down to. If not, then spending all your money on a QB may not be the best investment.

All of the good QB's have gotten new contracts so an ELi contract wont hurt them really. This so called advantage that teams have who arent paying their young QB's have doesnt really exist anymore because every QB who demanded a big deal has gotten paid(besides Eli). The only QB on his rookie contract who has shown any promise is Bridgewater...we'll see how Jameis and Mariotta pan out. If they're like Luck or Wilson were then Tampa and Tennessee should be players in the near future.

Teams like the Bills, Jets, Texans, Redskins, Raiders, Rams are all still fukked.

That 2007 playoff game :mjcry:

No but seriously, has dude ever been a top 10 QB at any point in his career :francis:

I agree he needs to have consistent MVP Seasons like a ARod or Brady to be in the God Tier,id love to see him in the Running for the award for a Season or Two,but at the same time Brees has had bad years and he still gets Elite Props and tbh Eli is better buuut thats another thread:madodell:

I do think this year is it,having ODB for a full year(PreSeason and TC)
will help a Ton plus a deeper WR Corps(not tripping heavy on Cruz cuz he will be on his shyt sooner but no need to Rush)along with another year of the new Offense will improve Eli

It's crazy that Eli and Melo are the most hated on athletes on this board. I wonder if it has to do with them playing in NYC :patrice:

Whether you think he is elite or not is not the debate, the market has been set for QB's getting big contracts. QB's who have not accomplished anything have big contracts Matt Ryan, Cam, Rivers etc.

According to those numbers and those players, Eli definitely deserves more than them.

I'm not saying Eli is top 5, but he definitely is top 10 in the league.

Top 10 qb's no specific order
rodgers
peyton
brady
brees
luck
ben
eli
romo
russell
rivers.

brady will never live that down.... no matter what he does or did... there's always 1 and only 1 person who can say... tom brady CAN'T beat me in a super bowl
Your selective usage of stats to dikkride Eli is hilarious. Did I really see you or someone say some stupid shyt about you cannot say what would happen if the teams were reversed? This is what winning does, it allows you to say any stupid thing possible. If Peyton Manning is on the Seahawks and they play the Broncos in that SB, the Seahawks win. He is that much better than Russ. Just because you win the game does not mean you outplayed the other guy. Rodgers was not great versus that Seahawks team but to pretend that Russ was better just because his team won is bullshyt. He threw up some bullshyt to win, just like that catch on Harrison. The Eli Manning that got locked down by the Patriots defense in that 08 SB that was not even that great that year would somehow turn up if he got manhandled the way the Giants handled Brady to the point where Strahan and Tuck say they respect BRady forever?

Look I give Eli his props but let's not be stupid. The Giants defense won that 1st SB just like the Pats defense won the first Pats SB. Tom Brady became Tom Brady when he then led the NFL in TD passes the next season and then went on to set the SB completion record and throw 3 TDs versus the Panthers and lead a team to but up 29 in one half. Eli has never come close to that. In 2011 barely got a win against a Pats team without Gronk at even 50% and that was the worst defense to ever make it to a SB. Eli has never done shyt without elite weapons so we can definitively say that he would have gotten cooked in Brady's shoes. Yes, Eli will always be the QB of the team with two SB wins over Brady but if he did not play for NY none of this shyt about him belonging anywhere in the vicinity of Brady and Rodgers would be happening. Russ is young, and will get better so it makes sense. We have already seen the best of Eli Manning.

Paying Russell Wilson was a debate. But, just watch. Eli will get his money without much complaint and you definitely won't hear all these media types going in on him.

It's simple Eli never fukked up when it matters the most. The guy didn't throw away a Superbowl people would say it's Pete's fault not going to Marshawn but Wilson has the final say in that play and he fukked up :yeshrug:

look at him........................ emotional

20-30 with 256 yards and no ints and a touchdown.... is not elite and not helping huh... 9th best completion percentage in a super bowl EVER isn't helping huh... two game winning drives... ain't helping... two clutch throws on those game winning drives.... didn't even matter huh

this is the problem with y'all... you sat right there and watched that man march up the field and win the game for his team.... TWICE.... and you still won't give him any credit... or barely any

you don't know what the fukk peyton would have done... peyton got 1 ring... and about 11 boneheaded playoff loses where HE played shytty and/or threw away the game losing INT.... and yet you KNOW what he would have done that game right???

the fact is, you gotta play the damn game... brady on a team that goes 19-0, can't beat the giants.... but suddenly if you put him on the wild card giants, he wins no problem?????

YOU SIR ARE GUESSING.... everything i said actually happened

and when you have to resort to guessing.... and what ifs... and b-b-b-b-b-but i'm sure it WOULD have happened this way....... you talking with emotions... i posted facts of what happened

fact is when brady looks back and says "damn... i coulda won 6 rings" we all know what game ending moments will be replaying and exactly who was throwing the ball during that time
