In the 1970s Milken would've split "Alphabets" wig and sold off Amazon HQ as debt service :mjlit:

These companies are the definition of over valued, "sum greater than the parts" "revenue per impression" hot garbage

We dont live in a free market :hubie:

This ain't a TLR thread though :mjpls:

Every single large company like that violates anti-trust and monopoly laws on a daily basis. They are sometimes punished for it (intel ibm Microsoft) but often not (google amazon).

Im interested to see what happens, but i doubt anything will.

the next recession the masses are going to be out for blood and these politicians will sacrifice these same corporations who pay them.

The EU has massive fines for companies it believes are breaking anti-trust laws.
I believe they hit Google with that work a few years ago.

US government is so deeply entrenched with private capital that you need an Executive branch with real teeth to be able to but through the bullshyt.

Yeah the eu hit Intel heavy as well, they don't play those games.

I remember when the us hit Microsoft for bundling office with their os. Now office cost 3x as much as the os and Microsoft moved much of their production offshore :mjlol:

US doesnt want a repeat of that i fear

She's right, something as simple as Amazon shouldn't be allowed to sell their version of products on their platform helps...but there's alot of "understanding" and tolerant attitudes for tech companies' dirty ways for some reason...not sure if it's a defeatist, can't beat join them approach OR just blind loyalty OR don't want to appear as out of touch

change the industry, but keep the same size/influence that these companies have on an industry, then most folks wouldn't have a problem with breaking them up

Same with automation, unless societies agree to limit the impact technology has on human's job security, then unemployment, public service dependency, and various social ills and isms will increase
Recall the the positive reaction and plans on buying stocks in that pepsi thread, when they announced plans for increasing automation...celebrate your long term hardship brehs

what the consumers and competitors should've done is, not use office and develop alternatives to supply demand for office alternatives to counter Microsoft moves
