So I think I figured out the grift. Trump is looking to raise tariffs and institute a sales tax in place of an income tax. So they will need to send people money to make them buy stuff so they can then tax them for the sales.

They won’t. I’m a firm believer this is a suburban MAGA check. I don’t believe they will actually do it for that amount, if at all. As soon as it’s “approved” the fine print will come out.

- If you received a tax refund you don’t get one
- You have to make over a certain amount or reach a certain threshold of taxes paid
- You have to have filed taxes every year over the last 5 years
- Can’t qualify for EITC


Anything to limit the perceived number of black people. Poor whites will gladly not receive them if it means they feel the majority of black people won’t get one. This check would be meant to turn the tide against DOGE and its fake savings and by extension, Trump’s planned tax hikes on the middle and lower class. White suburbanites and the white rural middle class went sharply toward Trump and it’s the group that has been most affected so far and potentially the reason for a bloodbath to the GOP (similar to the 2024 British snap elections) in 2026.

I think they’ll probably base it on taxes paid. So 5k would be for higher earners and it would go down from there. It makes sense if they are going to give themselves billion dollar tax cuts to throw this at everyone else. The issue will be the tax cut would be for multiple years and everybody else will get a single check. It also makes sense as a bribe for income tax. Since with the tariffs companies are making a lot more money as well adding to the cost.

I just don’t think any of this takes into consideration we’re about to enter stagflation. People aren’t going to be buying anything fun with that money so the benefit with seem minimal. The only way to increase buying is to give people a sense that they will have long term disposable income. If not people are likely to sit on that money.

The only real cut is cutting foreign aid, that was like 40 billion per year, which also means that immigration from those countries will increase but republicans don't think that far.


Why not just add another trillion to the government debt that's going from 36 trillion to 37 trillion. Because it's an imbecile idea, why give money to people who have money and just add the extra they get to their pile.
