It's a dehumanization tactic.

Their goal is form a coalition with non blacks and make blacks as the group to target for future disenfranchisement under the idea that blacks are a special lower class group.

The less you interact with a group, the easier it is to make caricature of the group to make them more detestable and therefore makes the public more accepting of abuse towards them. It's harder to do when these people intermingle and become good friends with each other.
