UBI is cool but it'd mean there will be no upward mobility.
Once you become the recipient class, that's it.
No amount of hard work or above avg level intelligence will be enough to compete with the resources (AI, automation) of big conglomerates so you're forever stuck there once the power of AI goes over the inflection point.
It's basically the blue pill in Matrix situation where they feed you enough to get the consumption going to sustain the economy and prevent social upheaval.
Sad thing is I don't see any other scenario unfolding either.
No Neo and red pill in reality.

Isn't this what the future was supposed to look like. Automation of hard labor jobs, an educated workforce where everyone needs to work three days a week? I saw it on the Jetsons damn it.

We can't even get universal healthcare in this country. He's acknowledging there will be a major problem of what to do with all these people who will be displaced economically, but the truth is there is already a plan. They don't plan on any of us being here to enjoy this technological utopia, once enough of the mundane tasks for society have been automated expect a massive world war to cull the world population down to a manageable 500 million tops.
