The post you quoted is specifically talking about my observations of the fallout from this twitter feature that reveals an accounts geographical location and app store creation data.

Several of the accounts exposed have indeed conceded that the location you can now verify in their profiles is where they're based out of, and not from where they were pretending to be. Some released statements admitting to it, others deleted their accounts altogether after being "exposed". There isn't basis for grand scale conspiracies as of yet, because again - several of these accounts are admitting to it

for example (this isn't politically related), but this was a guy based out of Saudi Arabia pretending to be a New Yorker and "the voice of hip-hop":

Location got exposed as "Europe" so they posted a video of a cathedral in Brussels and tried to fake it like he's currently traveling through Europe - except the app also exposed their account was created in Europe and is active from there. one of them cacs obsessed with and pretending to be japanese
