I just read he stopped sleeping with Priscilla after she had Lisa Marie, because he wasn’t attracted to mothers.

And he had a sandwich flown in that was a loaf of bread hollowed out, and stuffed with peanut butter and jelly and bacon. No wonder he got fat.
Read up on his dietary habits few months back for some reason. He ate like shyt, not surprised his body was all fukked up by the end

Just got finished watching it. Very strange movie. The pacing felt rushed & the movie narration felt Disney esqe. The way they shot it was weird too. Modern day music threw off the feel as well.

I don't know what's up with the eyeliner they had him using more than half the movie. Was dude really using eyeliner like that all the time?

Good thing is the tail end of the movies gets significantly better.

A lot of old white people was watching this when I went.

Elvis legacy is basically being held up by old white people at this point so it makes sense.

fukk that racist, drug addicted pervert. Sometimes I have to check if this is a black site. Sigh.
I always heard he was a racist but never any actual stories where he was a racist. Granted I only seen a couple of docs and movies based on him.

Baz is a great director. The movie just kinda flashes you through different points of his life. The directing on this was awesome.

It definitely does feel weird seeing this dude just blatantly steal songs and get props. How bright his eyes get when he sees little Richard then he basically is like I can’t wait to steal that. Am i crazy or did this dude steal his entire swag from James Brown?

Culture Vulture stuff aside, it’s an interesting story.

Wonder how many artist lived that lifestyle? Getting pumped with something to sleep then something to wake up. Basically being addicted to amphetamines and opioids. On top of that all the normal drinking and drugs they do.

Then his manager basically pimping him and he thought he was the real talent. I bet there’s a lot of managers like that today.
I think he was just emulating the swagger the brothas had on Beale Street. They made a few references that he was acting how black artists act on stage which is one reason why white dudes were getting tight about his act

Probably think their tunes aged better. Kinda fair cos very few 50s tunes hold up imo. Watching Miles Teller and co rock out to Great Balls of Fire in Maverick felt very antiquated, even though I know it’s a throw back to the OG film. Plus you could apply this to black artists as well. Would you rather play Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley or Otis Redding and Sam Cooke?

It was pretty cool. Greatly directed. The constant dramatic zooms, the colors, the slowmo, the abundant editing made the entire thing very dynamic and entertaining to watch.

They went to great lengths to acknowledge how much Black culture influenced him, the privilege at the root of his success and how he became himself an incarnation of racial controversy.

All I knew about Elvis going in was the symbol of the artist that fell off that cartoon/sitcoms pushed, that he reputedly "stole" what made his success from Black artists and that he was a rock'n'roll heartthrob and one of the first huge showmen. And the epic rap battle of history about him.

Cast was fantastic imo. The dude they chose for him was perfect and I was surprised by how good his acting was, but all the other actors were amazing too. The Black performers all killed it, especially the guy with make up in the bar.

Cool flick.
