other than the states most white people dont listen to rap except maybe cacmore nd em.

this wasnt the case 5-10 years ago

:manny:
Right.. but its more a case of white people losing interest in hip hop then trying to claim it.

Everyone knows hip hop as a cultural movement has already happened. so for white people to take it over now would be much different then white people taking over Rock in its developing stages.

They already did.
In the 50's a majority of people literally didn't want to see black people on tv or hear them on the radio.
Now and days music executives realize we don't need whites to pretend to do black music(although there still are Em's, Justin Timberlakes, etc).
As long as we still control it :sas2:

actually the opposite

i believe they are gonna weed out the blackness in urban music replace it with a more "marketable' image
like maclemores and so on

I just don't think that's true.
It that were the case we'd have a lot more successful white artist than Em, Macklemore, and Vanilla Ice.
i think whites listen to hip-hop for that "urban experience" and love to hear it from black people living in the ghetto
When whites really started gaining control of hip-hop is when the music got alot more ignorant and less about an actual message.

Our music falls off for two reasons:

1) When our artists blow up and consistently break records and top charts, they get hit with the "he's a sellout", "he's a c00n". Then people move on to the fresh, new artist. We cultivate and promote that artist through word of mouth until that artist blows up and crosses over. Said artist is hit with the "sellout" and "c00n" title. Now, that artist is tossed aside and considered one of "them". By them, I mean "cacs".

2) Some of us or possibly a lot of us will quit listening to an artist just because an artist acquires an influx of white fans.

Example:

Hip Hop that catered to the streets was huge. At it's peak, it was dissed. People even claimed that it was used to destroy the consciousness of Hip Hop. Okay, over time, Hip Hop that catered to the streets was no longer cool. Artists gradually started to look and sound more like Kanye and Pharrell complete with the whole collegiate and skater look. Now people complain about how soft Hip Hop is and say that there is a conspiracy to make men more feminine.

I've never seen so many people claim to love Hip Hop, but the words and actions say otherwise. It looks like people are more concerned with complaining, gossiping, and watching artists they claim to love fail. Then there's all this grand standing about how Hip Hop is being taken over. :camby:
