Three things:
@Dave24 you're a fan, right?
Anyway, in rough order, I'll post a few songs a non-fan might like:
this breh, Otis Blackwell wrote alot of his hits since day one, his songs will be written in bold
Don't Be Cruel (1956): Elvis redid this song after he heard Jackie Wilson cover it
Money Honey (1956): does a Buddy Holly type hickup effect
Edge of Reality (1968): Honest to god psychedelic chamber pop, really out of place for him
Almost In Love (1968): Really sampleable, chill, bossa nova track
From his TV special, shows his wide range, went downhill from there though
All Shook Up was written by Otis Blackwell
From Elvis to Memphis (1969) is bis best and only album he had creative control over
Some later stuff I fw
He was also a fan and friend of Muhammad Ali:
-
Yes, he covered Black artists, his earliest interviews always maintained they did it better than he ever could; for a hillbilly from the 50s, even today he wasn't explicitly racist
[*]Yes, his movies and later concerts were godawful, if you hear his name and think of a fat cac in a jumpsuit, it's because of him final, drug fueled years in a 360 deal
[*]Yes, I know he groomed a 14 y/o but some ppl on here been defending R Kelly, seperate the art from one artist, you should with all, I do
