and they were a touchdown favorite against the Redskins.

Bills were favored against the Giants too, but anybody who watched football knew matchup was dead even.
and they were a touchdown favorite against the Redskins.

This is irrelevant because it cannot be proven. It is utter foolishness to deal in hypotheticals

No it is utter foolishness to dismiss concepts as irrelevant because we don't agree with them. If discussion was limited only to things with tangible proof, there would be a lot of quite muthafukkas.
A QB with average at best numbers (for the time) and no SB ring would not still be starting for the team that drafted him at 37 in today's NFL, you know that as well as I do.

Let's be reality stats don't even tell a fraction of the story of how great a QB John Elway was, though I'll say this he was a late bloomer, but if you put him in todays NFL, he would be Tom Brady/Peyton Manning level.
Elway's numbers would definitely be better today but if they weren't amongst the best in the 80's why would they suddenly be amongst the best today? Brady and Manning are special when it comes to accuracy. They play in an offensive era no doubt, but those dudes are just plain special when it comes to putting the ball where it is supposed to be.Hey, lets start a thread and discuss whether Muhammad Ali could beat Mike Tyson.....![]()
we've had this thread. Ali would beat Tyson.

Tyson struggles against taller boxers who jab... Ali did that really well.
Based on what man?
I have no idea who would in, but what could this possibly be based on, and don't give me he went through better competition either.
Again, those were too different eras, and there is no way to determine how those guys would do in different eras.....
You nor I don't know that.
Can this be proven?
Answer the question young man. Can it be proven?
If not, why are we even discussing this. It never makes sense to compare different eras in sports....Never...

Debates like that are fun to me until they are run into the ground...
vs.
for example.Tyson struggles against taller boxers who jab... Ali did that really well.
Plus Ali had one of the best chins ever. He ate punches against guys who punch harder than Tyson...
You see how that works? You see how you can do hypotheticals? You are getting emotional instead of looking at facts.
you know what, thats fairNo need to deflect because I am no where near emotional....
And you said that I don't deal in facts but you just use an opinion to validate your argument
That's the purpose of sports message boards.Debates like that are fun to me until they are run into the ground...

Actually it can be proven. Where are the 37 yr old QBs with no rings and average stats still starting for the team that drafted them? There is nobody even close to that today. Teams embrace the "younger is better" mantra at QB more than ever before.
thats his pointActually it cannot. This is a different era now. The game is different, the college game is different, and the profit scale/economic model is way different...
37 year olds don't start in this league mainly because of profit, and that its way more financially savvy to hype the next young QB that's already prepped/marketed and packaged via CFB just to keep an ADD audience excited about the game......
It has absolutely nothing to do with ability to play the position....That's why you don't compare eras, it's like comparing apples to a lawn mower.
And finally, this era is a watered down product compared to the 70s and 80s and that is a strong opinion. NBA too

You disagree with me but yet you post all of these things supporting my stance?
I didn't say anything about Elway's abilities. You reached on that one. I merely pointed to the fact that a guy with average numbers (for the time) and empty fingers would not have the chance that Elway did late in his career.thats his point
and he never said Elway couldnt play at 37![]()
