Ive sat in the emergency aisle too many times to count. It's usually the cheapest seat and has the most room.

What airline are you flying because everytime I check it's more expensive. I need the leg room.

You specifically said JAIL did you not? That is criminal. You didn't say legal for civil suits. You said it for jail time, criminal charges. And like I said, being subject to a civil suit does not prove legal culpability unless found guilty. And as I said there are precisely ZERO LAWS regarding not assisting in deplaning. FAA requires you to open the emergency door. That doesn't mean you are required to deplane all passengers before you exit. They would like you to I'm sure. But that's not anything you'd be subject to criminal or civil suit for. As long as you open that door, you are fine.
When you choose a seat in one of a plane’s emergency rows, you’re implicitly taking on all the duties that come with your position. Most airlines even make these duties explicit, listing them and asking those seated in the emergency row if they are able and willing to carry them out in case of an emergency. Either way, taking a seat in an emergency row automatically comes with responsibilities other in-flight passengers don’t have: responsibilities to get others out safely during an evacuation.
I dunno how that is but good for you.I usually use my points. They always seem to put me there without asking

If you’ve got points you likely have some sort of status (even if simply based on being a cardholder of whatever cc you have)...basically you’re getting hooked up, not they gave you the cheap setI usually use my points. They always seem to put me there without asking

I never said I wouldn't. The other poster did. I personally would help because I have a disabled mother and would hope someone would assist her if she was in a situation like that. You're better off helping.
What are you gonna do when you get off the plane, Stand around waiting? Where you gonna go
Then 100 people get off the plane ready to whoop yo ass for doing nothing.
Not trying to argue but why not help

things go south I'm out the plane like pop's Witherspoon You have a legal obligation to help other people if you sit there.
That's why there is an agreement you agree to help.
You can be fined or face jail time.

don't they check with u and ask if u will do all that stuff if u sit in the emergency aisle?
