Eminem being white saved him from being relegated to the Redman, Ludacris, and E-40 tier of rappers

Red got all kinds of shyt in his life he could rap about breh

Drug addiction, divorce, getting kicked out at 16 and hustling in the streets, friends dying, etc.

He's talked about all this in his music but not in a sad song. That aint his style. More like bars here and there.

Jay z is the same way. He spent the bulk of his career shytting on people and being a scumbag in his raps but was called the goat way before dropping one album where he actually had a message :russ:

- It ain't about the song necessarily being sad, just something that takes you beyond the bars and hooks especially when it's well written. White America wasn't a sad song but still poignant and nothing similar could be found in either person's catalog that you pointed up.

- Jay-Z had plenty of depth in his rhymes even on his first album. Songs like D'evil's encapsulate the bulk of what Reasonable Doubt was getting at. Just because he didn't build an entire album around that tone of music doesn't mean the jewels weren't always there and even moreso as he got older.

Respect to em for having depth, but you know damn well that ain't why he in the discussion for all time greatest rappers :mjlol:

If that's the case why logic ain't get that treatment :mjgrin:

It's obviously not the ONLY but it's a huge reason why. There hasn't been a mainstream rapper that vulnerable in his music outside of 2pac before him who was influenced him a great deal especially in the TES/8 mile era.

Luda has more commercial success than A LOT of "GOAT" candidates yet he ain't on that tier because his the content of his music isn't very thick. A black approximation of Eminem in the music industry would be less Ludacris and more like Kendrick Lamar...who comes from that same camp/lineage and definitely has influenced his craft.

With that level of skill, not just bars but the ability to well written songs around topics that resonate with massive amounts of people, there would still be a sizable gap between he and Luda/Redman.

Its a factor but its not the only reason, there are plenty of white rappers who don't have the audience EM has. Also the artist in the title are in completely different tiers.

You do know that Ludacris was MASSIVE at one time right? And that the only reason he’s not revered like he should be is cause of his generally fun care free style and basically being pretty firming into acting for almost twenty years ?
I love luda but being honest luda never had a classic album or even one that stuck to the ribs like that. chicken n beer prolly his best but are you going back to it and hitting play on track one?

Redman has 3 classics. he is a diff discussion. even e-40 gotta classic

"'Far as why is David Bowie going up in Andre butt in the Makaveli drawing, what you have to ask yourself is why Jimmy let David Bowie go in John Lennon butt to feature on the song Fame

same reason is why Jimmy let Bowie go in Dre butt to remake the song Fame,

@7:10

so it's not about trying to slander these guys because they getting they butt ran in by these white guys in the industry, far as it's like this, Pac cares about the kids, far as protecting them, so it's not about exposing these guys being gay to bash them, putting Dre getting pegged by David Bowie on the back of the album cover is to say hey, we want to make sure far as these guys dont end up doing something far as molesting a kid"
