Was this better than the last wack album?

Much much better

I've hated pretty much all of Em's albums since Relapse. I feel like Relapse was the last album he was actually trying to be creative conceptually, although some of the tracks were hit or miss, flow wise and lyrically, it was still top notch. That didn't happen on the albums that followed... Em is one of the greatest rappers of all time, so he ALWAYS gonna be rapping his ass off but sometimes the lyrics are SUPER wack and corny. The beats are stale and lifeless and the overall content is just uninteresting. At least on the last last 3 joints, even though I do think Recovery had some nice singles.

Did the same corny shyt on the last album Revival and I was like, why can't Em just holla at some of the hottest producers in the game and just KILL beats? Any producer in the game would hook Em up with some heat. I said that when the album dropped in the Revival thread after trying to stomach the album when it dropped.

He did that on this album :gladbron: Boi-1DA, Mike-Will, Tay Keith, Ronny J laced him! I'll be honest, the album to me doesn't SLAP like say Playboi Carti album Die Lit or Nipsey Hussle Victory Lap that drop this year BUT it's so much better than the trash Em was putting out, I'd say it's much more enjoyable than Relapse and eclipses Recovery, MMLP2, Revival very easily. The production holds up all the way through, Em is flowin his ass off throughout the whole album. There are a few tracks I don't like on it like Kamikaze, Stepping Stone, Good Guy and Lucky You. But Normal sounds like it could be a single and Fall sounds like one of Em best songs ever, especially wit the homie Justin Vernon from Bon Iver on the hook :wow: but that's also one of my critiques of the album. Most of the hooks on it are TRASH and he should have features laying down the hooks but I still respect his effort for attempting it. The album just sounds modern and that's what I want to hear personally from someone like Em. He's always been a mainstream rapper with elite flow and lyrical ability but the production on the last few albums I mentioned earlier have just been so :hhh: that it makes a lot of the music unlistenable. This album actually has some ear candy production wise that's interesting but not too over the top.I'm on my third listen and that's what I've got from the album so far :yeshrug:

For me, the best songs are Fall, Good Guy, and Lucky You. The first two cause those are the only two songs where Em flow wise sounds like mature subdued Eminem Show Em, and the latter cause Em and Joyner are just rapping their asses off. Not too much over-rapping and extra shyt. Mature calm Em is on Stepping Stone too, but the hook and beat are so wack it’s unlistenable. The Ringer is mostly fire, and I say mostly cause there’s a couple cringe sounding bars here and there. That Look Alive parody “Not Alike” is cool, but some of Em’s bars on there sounded like some of that JCole KOD stuff where he was going at shytty rappers by mocking them, and comes off slightly cringe. Royce was dope on there though. Overall, I’d give it a 6/10. Revival was an abomination (maybe a 1 or 2/10), so Kamikaze is a step in the right direction, both lyrically (specifically flow) and production wise. He needs to stay far away from Alex Da Kid and Rick Rubin. I just don’t get why he doesn’t connect with ALC, and Havoc, and newer guys like Harry Fraud and Cardo.

Second verse on NORMAL is probably the best on the album

And I don’t know what's got a hold of me
Most notably I've been zonin' to Jodeci
I'm totally open, hopelessly devoted
So much so that I bet you she don't know that she's
The first thing I think of when I wake up
And the last thing I think of 'fore I go to sleep
Sike, hope she don't notice me goin' through her purse
I know she cheats, so do I, I'm soulless, she's heartless
No wonder we're partners
Both got hundreds of charges
Domestic disputes but we've always
Swept it under the carpet
Even when 911 gets the call that
I slipped up and busted her jaw with
A Louisville Slugger 'cause all's it
Really does is make our love
For each other grow stronger
She won me over the second she tried to run me over
Told her I'd keep it a hun', we over
Kicked her out, called her back, now she's coming over
But why is she so wicked?
And how the fukk did I get so twisted?
I'm with someone so unlikeable and shifty
We're like nitrogen and hydrogen mixed with
Ignitable liquids, but I'm finally seeing
She's only mine for the time being
That's why I keep bringin' up that one time she
Tried to two-time me
And throw it up in her face 'til I dry heave
How could I be so naive?
Should I leave or turn this entire evening
Into a motherfukking crime scene?

Budden would beat Eminem he can't rhyme on beat no more
He dissing lil yahty and lil pump, lmao

Eminem's dikk riding fanbase is the most disgusting shyt I have ever seen in hip hop, but thankful in this day and age they have little influence

eminem responded to canibus when canibus was washed up, I'm pretty sure canibus had a ghostwriter because after that 2000 bc everything about his raps changed and it was straight garbage like beyond garbage like he was different person, unheard of in rap unless he was never putting together the raps.

Eminem calling Budden because he retired, he didn't mention Drake name but sub him then on the track he gonna say he don't subliminal diss come on man

He fear Drake, this the same guy who admitted he wanted to diss kanye and lil wayne but fell back because he felt he would lose lmao yet his dikk riding fans ignore facts

That kamikaze album was trash, wack beats, he off beat, shyt is not dope at all, ever since Proof did Eminem who flow changed, huge drop off in quality, I'm pretty sure Proof had a lot of input on his music, rappers styles get old but they skills don't evaporate like Eminem's did unless he was never the source of creativity.

fukking Big Daddy Kane still rap just as good as he did in the 80s lmao, somebody battle LL Cool J right now, he would body them, he can't make hits, but he can still rap, lmao that shyt don't ever go away.

Eminem can't rap anymore at all, this shyt is highly suspect, and the fact people are overlooking the fact this guy flow is absolute trash and not even comparable to the early 2000s is why I can never give this guy credit and say he's a legend, because he graded at curve.

Joe Budden could destroy Emimen, all Eminem has to do his respond rhyming three times every bar and people will act like its the best thing ever.

shyt is weak, Pusha T would destroy Eminem in the battle just like he did Drake, Eminem has always been a cherry picker with who he disses and chooses as a competitor.

I don't hate Relapse. It's his best post Eminem Show album. It's just nowhere close to the level of his first 3 albums.

And yeah we do seem to have different preferences when it comes to Em's music. Seems you like his zany, off the wall material more (which SSLP and MMLP supply plenty of in a MUCH better manner than Relapse lol). I love that too but I always liked his serious material better. The pivot he made from his MMLP style to his Eminem Show/8 Mile style was always :wow: to me.

I always said 8 Mile was Eminem's apex. He found the perfect balance with lyrics and song making.

8 Mile is a GOAT Eminem track

Some of these hooks are terrible, but its so good to hear Em get his flow back and spit over some modern beats again. "Revival" was probably the best thing that could have happened to Em. He needed that reality check.
I like Revival better than this album. Other than Lucky You and The Ringer I don’t like any of these tracks.

Maybe I skimmed this too much but there’s too much whining about people criticizing his music.

I prefer the goofy dumb tracks Em does like Framed, Remind Me, Heat, and Offended over all this crying about people shytting on his music.

Some artist blow up and it doesn’t change them but to me Em is like Kanye West in that blowing up changed him enough that he can barely relate to the artist he was when he was at his best which was pre-Encore. He became the kinda artist he’d shyt on earlier in his career.

Why did him and Paul sign them Griselda nikkas if he refuses to give them a look???

This would have been the perfect album for that.

Joyner got it though instead.

Not just lyrics and song making but also subject matter. It was great to see him rapping about real shyt that was relatable.

All his music that came out in that time was :wow:

The Eminem Show
8 Mile

And all of his mixtape joints and guest features: Renegade, Go to Sleep, Say my Name, Patiently Waiting, We as Americans, Bully, Love you More, Monkey See Monkey Do, The Sauce, Nail in the Coffin, Lady, Bump Heads, 911 etc.

Miss those days :mjcry:
