Em has an ear for talent but this is not the first talent that has languished on Shady Records, anyone remember Bobby Creekwater?
Shady/Interscope is the issue there, because Interscope is the home to pop acts. Em tried to go the Rocafella route and it didn't play out like it did at Def Jam because Interscope is more about pop.
His musical influence aside, he did the right thing trying to give these guys a platform. He tried to sign , Zee, Monch and Redman too but by then Obie's 2nd album had flopped and kind of closed the door on any new artists being able to pop without Em bein 'all in the videos'. So despite them being legends, they woulda got the same treatment, shelved.
With Paul running DJ now, it seems like it's going to be Shady/Def Jam for cats like Boogie and Griselda, which would make a difference in that DJ is focused almost solely on rap. If Em goes to DJ you'd be more likely to get an Em/ALC project. And Boogie would have way less of a hurdle to getting a release date.
