On the low it's lyrically his most impressive album, he was really BEASTING on that shyt.
Some of that subject matter tho
Might be my favorite Em album![]()
album has aged amazingly well. No filler

I'm just a hooligan
Who's use to usin' hallucinogens
Causin' illusions again
Brain contusions again
Cutting and bruising the skin
Raise the scissors and pins
Jesus when does it end?!
Phases that I go through
Dazed and I'm so confused
Days that I don't know who
Gave these molecules to me
What am I gone do
Hey the prodigal son
The diabolical one
Very methodical
When I slaughter dem
one of the HARDEST flows I've ever heard when he was spitting those bars

I disagree. The delivery and the "accents" gave the shyt character.
That was bad delivery? He wouldn't have been able to twist it like he did without the inflections.
It's funny because at the time he got flak for the inflections only for some of those same people to turn around to dikkride Danny Brown and Kendrick for doing some of the same shyt.

The label didn't like it because even though it went double plat it was probably the lowest numbers he had up until then because it wasn't for the pop/bandwagon crowd...the shyt was a real live rap album. They shoe-horned crack a bottle in there after the leak to get some radio play but other than that it was pretty fukkin raw.
shyt would be like a rapper trying to drop Dare iz a Darkside in 2010's in the mainstream, they didn't know what to do with that. It's the reason why directly after it we got an Eminem album with standard production and attempts at top 40 hits...I mean he did what he was being asked to do but I wanted more Relapse.
And speaking of DIAD...Relapse is kind of a nod to that album since Redman is such an influence, from the cover to the skits (Dr. Trevis/Dr. West) to the drugged out horror core vibe. Funny enough Redman hates that album because of the drugs and the state of mind he was in which is the same shyt Em said about Relapse.
He kinda pissed me off dissing it and then backtracking on that BME album saying he that he knew he was rappin nice, because he was.
I'd rather listen to Relapse than MMLP.

YO! This album is fukking flames. In 09, the accents and subject matter bugged me more, but I'm on Medicine Ball and good grief. I was waiting to skip something but its been rocking. Stay Wide Awake is up next and I personally think that song has some of Em's best rapping of his career.
It really has. Even Beautiful sounds hella dope. Reminds me of Yellow brick road as one of his early attempts at the style he would use through the 2010s.album has aged really well
