I don't like Macklemore's music for the most part, but dude is successful for the same reasons many artists are successful: he made songs that resonated with people who not only buy albums, but download the songs off iTunes or some other retailer measured by Soundscan. The Mac Millers, MGK's, and Asher Roths of the world aren't anywhere near as successful and what do they all have in common?
