:scusthov:El has been killin Royce for a good minute, Black got him on that track too. The artist in the picture know what they are doing not having a cat like El on the track :lolbron:

I think when Royce gets on songs with Elzhi, he really takes a different approach. I don't think he tries to body Elzhi, but instead to just make a verse that compliments the song best. I think Royce has been great on all of their songs together - Motown 25, Jake One's "Glow," Black Milk's "Deadly Medley," etc. I think Elzhi does the lyrical dumb out, while Royce does the stylistic dumb out that still has strong wit/solid lines. It's sort of like a super upgraded version of the Slum Village version with Elzhi and T3 - Royce brings that stylistic approach that works as a foil for Elzhi, but he doesn't slack on his verses either.

The more I focus on who had the best verse on a song, the more I realized I was missing out on enjoyment of dope verses just because someone else's was better. I try to focus on full song value now. If someone's verse just doesn't measure up to the rest of the song? Different story.

The only person I've heard hold their own on a track with Elzhi is Phonte. Royce has that flow but dudes lyrics have been underwhelming lately. When I listen to him it's the sonic equivalent of putting regular unleaded in a NASA rocket.

i can see that :ehh:

but i also think Royce knows he cant go bar for bar with El, and resorts to the more stylistic approach

the songs are dope, i just get wrapped up with El's technique, it steals the show and you have no choice but to separate it and pay attention
