1.2 million to play 32 games in china and still be back by april to prepare for the june draft.
if he goes top 5, i can see alotta dudes going this route in the future. why waste a year in college playing for free when you can make a cool million overseas and still come back and be a top draft. I think if this catches on, it might force the league to give up on this 1 year in college bullsh1t.
I don't think so. Because he would have gone top 5 either way, and his preference was to play in college... even at SMU. There is a certain pull to being a top player at a major college, you get a lot of coverage, you become an instant celebrity.
You go overseas, and while you're still set to be a top pick...and you probably become a celebrity in your province/area... it's not the same. Brandon Jennings did it, got taken tenth... and it didn't start a wave.
The truth is, playing overseas is hard. Being somewhere different as a teenager is hard, plenty of grown men, who are doing it to feed themselves can't hack it. I also think a chinese team is a mistake, but it's certainly better than what Jeremy Tyler ended up doing.
