I think Wayne should be able to say whatever he wants and they should drop him. If you want to be Mr. Crossover, doing rock albums and skateboarding and peddling Mountain Dew and doing interviews with Katie Couric then you should probably watch what the fukk you say. If you don't care about all that shyt, by all means say the most outlandish shyt you can think of. You shouldn't be able to have it both ways. Rappers nowadays want the mainstream accessibility of The Fresh Prince but rap about gutter shyt then act :wtf: when there's a conflict of interest.

Dwayne should loose something...he needs to learn a lesson...and i dont appreciate how he uses his power and influence to push more young black men to their grave and prison by glorifying gangbanging and not at least showing kids the tragedy of that lifestyle like the image of a funeral...so these kids know that it aint all about bling bling and backin that azz up...we need to grow the hell up

*Sigh*

i understand both sides of this argument...

I just honestly don't know where to sit on this one...I respect our history and understand the Emmett Till tragedy and it shouldn't be taken lightly...young man was beaten and killed for whistling at a white girl

but also, to take away this man's livelihood (yeah I know he has millions but the principle) because he said something light about the situation is a bit extreme too...

I just don't know...

I say alot of shyt on here but ....there is a difference like you said between acting a certain way out of public and in public.....

the way some of these kids act in public with the stuff they say and how they act and its so embarrassing...

i cringe whenever i see one of them act a certain way when an elder person is in the same room or around them.....embarrassing...

the funny thing too is we know alot of them and their short ass attention spans would talk about how lil wayne is wack now(he always was arguably) and how they don't bump him anymore.....

when in the biggest irony.....they don't realize that he was the heavy influence on the way they act now...i used to be one of those :cape: for certain rappers influencing our youth....but when you get older you realize how true it is....

as bad as this sounds......when i was making all those "lets hope he dies" comments during that whole Syrup/Hospital fiasco last month....i was dead serious and not joking...

to go back to your point.....when you say he needs to lose something i don't think he is gonna be alive to see that......its gonna be his own life.

and im sick and fed up with dudes like him and ross....

i don't know if you have ever sat down and thought about this......but isn't it agonizing when you realize dudes like this spreading poison and being horrible influences are making way more money than you....while you struggling to make ends meet??
:damn:

Its kind of eerie how the Wayne/Ross situations are mimicking each other......not just the controversial lyrics.......but since like the past year or so with the seizures.....near death experiences....etc

I understand the family being offended but pushing for him to be dropped from Mountain Dew is reaching for attention. If Ross was still with Reebok today this idea would not occur to end another rapper's sponsorship.

Lil Wayne’s having the worst week ever. Two days after suffering from a seizure, Mountain Dew severed ties with the rapper.

The move stems from the controversy surrounding Weezy’s Emmett Till reference on “Karate Chop (Remix)”. In a statement, Mountain Dew’s parent company Pepsi Co said:

“offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand.”
