Is it really grandstanding?

The Republicans are trying to pass this even though it's clearly bad policy. Since it's considered amendment to an existing bill, they aren't going to be given adequate time to debate it on the floor. Maybe what comes out in the town hall will generate enough outrage within the GOP constituency to make senators rethink their support?

McConnell said he wouldn't bring the it to the floor without the votes. Assuming he's telling the truth, they have them. So what's the alternative? There intentionally won't be any outrage over a CBO this time around...

Must watch.

I've watched his other townhalls and quite frankly he'll be good.

Honestly, there is nothing to debate here. There isn't any credibility on the Republican's side. They can't effectively debate a policy they themselves know is bad but are only doing to give their voters a sign they did what they were voted in to do. They know its shyt.

So I'm not too worried about Bernie "losing" the debate because the only way you can lose is to drool on yourself.

The only legit problem here is that unfortunately, Republicans would vote for a "fukk you and your crew. I'm going to shyt on all your chests" bill and they don't have to answer to anyone as long as it allows Trump to declare a win and if it makes some liberals mad.

So even if they get absolutely crushed, they will still vote for it.

If it was say, Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobacher, would you say they're grand standing?

I'm all for it if Bernie can stick to just bashing Graham Cassidy and not let them turn this into a referendum on potential problems with Bernie's bill
:lupe:

This could go really good or really bad

The contrast is never more striking. If Cassidy and Graham want to trash Medicare while defending a shiddy bill that knocks 32M off health insurance, let them.

It would be if he showed up and just pushed his medicare for all bill. Not sure why people on twitter etc who aren't fans of bernie are acting like that already has happened. It doesn't help anything

I mean, it seems fairly obvious he's going to attack the GOP bill at the debate. Not sure where the fear that he's just going to grandstand his own bill is coming from...

Keep in mind, CNN probably asked him specifically to do this because Bernie can pull ratings the other 3 participants can't.

This is why I don't trust establishment Dem instincts. The fact that ANY Republican is willing to publicly discuss this bill is a GIFT. This latest iteration is even worse than all of the others.

Stop making it about Bernie or any other individual politician. Fukking children.

just to clarify my concern is not that Bernie will grabdstand and make it about himselves
my concern is that we all know the Rs are the kings of projection and deflection
and will attempt to dazzle with enough bullshyt
that it actually takes away from how fukking horrible their bill is

they dont answer direct questions
they answer questions that werent asked
they change the subject

will yell "socialism! socialism! socialism!"

turn it into a referendum on fake stories about the long wait for healthcare in countries that have socialized healthcare
etc.

it doesnt make me feel better that we have truth on our side
lies mean nothing to them

Bernie: your program knocks 34 million off of healthcare and allows insurance companies to penalize for pre-exsisting conditions
repub:no it doesnt
something something freedom of choice something something states know their people better something something access
blah blah blah
