Why are you talking about Soulja Boy
who copied his style or was influenced by his style?

The only influence he had was using the internet to get popular but that was inevitable

i dont disagree in general about influence. never have i listened to an album then decided now i have to wait to see how much influence it has before i form an opinion nor should it sway an opinion later on. its something to talk about sure, but it should hold very little weight if any at all.

shyt is stupid....influence literally effects the future of the sound of the music...when you look back on it retroactively, you're looking back at the history and the lineage of the music and the culture...he that means infinitely more than the random opinion of random oddball geeks like the threadstarter or blowhard narrow minded "real hip hop" nerds that spend all day crying cause shyt ain't in reality like they would prefer...cause it happens naturally by what the artists of tommorrow listened to and were impacted by and supported ultimately by what the rap populace actually fukks with..

I don't even understand how biatch could underplay such a thing with all the asap dikklicking he does...without their "diverse" (generally relatively unheralded southern) influences they'd be a generic NYC act that didn't amount to shyt

I see a lot of hipster mags and posters forcing the 'influence' issue. Usually as a way to get us to care about some disposable artist we already disposed. The influence/run conversation is all part of the glorious and empty hyperbole that modern day 'rappers' stake their struggle-careers on.

Let me keep it simple for y'all: EVERYONE gets copied, especially if you're dominating at a particular time. Aspiring dikkriders don't care about quality - they care about fame and imitation. If you have some sort of limelight to what you do, someone is going to copy you.

Nas is one of the most copied rappers of all time. So is Soulja Boy. They are on totally different ends of the stylistic and quality spectrum.

***In fact, let me detour for a second. THE most influential rapper of the last decade is EASILY Soulja Boy. Every single rapper of today is an internet rapper regardless of where you're from and style. That started with Soulja Boy. So when you sit here and talk about 3 6 Mafia, Project Pat, random Southern no names or struggle gimmicks like Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, without mentioning Soulja Boy, I know you're full of shyt.***

The reason why we care about Nas's influence and not Soulja Boy's, no matter how hard you force it......One ELEVATED the game, the other didn't. In fact, the other actively watered it down. I'll let you figure out who is who.

It's easy as fukk to water shyt down and be xeroxed. We don't give a fukk. You will be forgotten and lack respect. It's way harder to innovate. To bring something fresh and new to the table so that others can play with it (with good and bad results).

Sorry that you'll keep forcing us to care about Gucci and 3 6 Mafia. Their discographies are TRASH, and ultimately that's the final word on a musician's legacy. To add insult to injury, Lil B outdid Gucci Mane years ago. Rocky outdid 3 6 Mafia on his first try. To quote "Demons", "It's ASAP! nikka, live with it" :laff:
"Forcing us"

"Fake hipsters"

The irony is great coming from a fraudulent bum who's whole online persona was invented as a result of being a lame irl.

Hood tourist and culture vulture who claims Anthony Fantano as a valid rap critic. That dude is the definition of a hipster. You have no history and no knowledge.

You write essays and dissertations to feel important but you can't vail the gaping lack of knowledge. Without the internet you wouldn't know rap yourself. You cape for asap while knocking 3-6 but they grandfathered his style. That's infleunce... Clear as day and hence why juicy J is tight with the asap crew and other youngins who unlike yourself are cultured in raps history. They have him around even in 2016 due to influence. One you claim doesn't exist.

A born looser and perpetual fraud. No one is forcing you to like anything. No one is riding with you so who is us?

Demented idiot. It's all fun and games till the truth get exposed. You troll the site and culture but that won't always be

Disrespect doesn't go unchecked
