If I was from that country I would seriously start merking shyt.

- Since the mid-1990s, Equatorial Guinea has become one of sub-Sahara's largest oil producers. With a population of 650,702, it is the richest country per capita in Africa

- Despite a per capita GDP (PPP) of more than US$30,000 (CIA Factbook $50,200) which is as of 2008 the twentieth highest in the world, Equatorial Guinea ranks 121st out of 177 countries on the United Nations Human Development Index.

- The UN says that less than half of the population has access to clean drinking water and that 20% of children die before reaching five.

Meanwhile the President/Dictator's son has $10m worth of cars....some seen here getting towed:

In 2008 he owned one of the 30 models of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4sports car (estimated at 1,100,000 euros) and a Maserati MC 12 at 700,000 euros. He went on to purchase another Bugatti Veyron, and tried to purchase a third. In late 2011, both Veyrons, as well as 9 other cars he owned were seized by French police investigating corruption. In July 2013, the confiscated goods were sold at auction :wow:

Obiang spent $315 million on properties and luxury goods between 2004 and 2011.

Mismanagement, it wouldn't be *too* difficult to turn the country around, if all the revenue was routed back inward, but the President and the other officials don't want to do that. They want to keep their positions and use the money they make to spend in Dubai, and Europe on shopping sprees while their people are dying. Its disgusting.

It is just criminal for people to lack clean drinking water when you pump 360,000 barrels of oil per day and ur population is only 500k.

I don't understand how callous people could be. How many Bugattis does one need?

The guy is a dictator who ascended to power via bloody coup in 1979. He's been in power for three and a half decades, meaning the current generation of equatorial guineans grew up under his rule and was likely brainwashed and denied an education.

Obiang's son started a record label in the US and was given a cabinet post by his father when it is apparent he isnt too smart. Obiang is definitely one of the worst and his whole country was threatened by a bunch of mercenaries because he never invested much in building the country up. They import a lot of food from outside as well, countries like Gabon,Republic of Congo, and Equatorial Guinea could do more given that they have relatively small populations relative to their oil output.
