we have 2 major issues

1. illegal guns( there’s no real criminal justice with fixing this issue and it’s bigger than any mayor)

2. repeat offenders.

A lot of people in this thread seem to assume that the increase of crime is because of a lot of new criminals that are desperate and lack opportunities

the issue is that it’s a lot guys that would be otherwise locked but due the pandemic city jails can’t hold all these criminals until they go to trial and get sent upstate. So there’s a lot of bonds being granted and house arrest being issues

There is a huge backlog in the courts. I do think crime decreases once court gets caught up but they may take years

Regardless of your anecdotes, theres decade of evidence backed by studies and data that the approach Adams is discussing DOES NOT WORK. And it is never fairly applied to EVERYONE, only poor black people
