I see your point but you can't compare Wrestlemania to Starcade. Wrestlemania will always draw bigger numbers compared to a PPV in December and the WWF was still doing a better marketing job than WCW. Now put Hogan vs Vader instead of Beefcake I'm sure the numbers would've been better. But it was mentioned in Kayfabe Commenteries Timeline series that Wrestlemania 10 was the first without Hogan and drew the lowest buys for Wrestlemania. That should tell you something too. If Bret was the draw he said he was then why did the WWF bring Warrior and Sid back.

bottom line:
- bret is mad cuz bischoff didnt hold his hand like Vince.
- there were a gang of bigger names there.
- he was putting on nowhere near the best matches over there, but alot of his opponents were.
- wrestlers were having so-so matches with him, but then would turn around and have excellent matches with each other
- he was getting killed on the mic
- he made no impact with the audience and wasnt over like that.

bottom line 2:
- WWF guy that didnt translate well to WCW
- was a big fish in a small pond in the WW\F.

Bret hart was still putting on great matches in 97 with taker, austin, hbk, vader. Why the drop off in match quality for bret in 98 if he was still great in 97?

youre in WCW now. most of that chit doesnt even stand out on a regular episode of nitro.
