It's laziness. But also dudes donโt want to spend bread.
I would rather them grab some random kid and just have them record the video on an iPhone before they get into this trash AI thing. The sh*t NEVER looks good. A grimy Hip Hop video recorded on a damn phone would work better than this.
I remember when I used to wonder why the Wu and other legends never had young, talented people on their team. Whether it's a road manager or an art director or a kid who does music videos or an up-and-coming producer. It just never seemed like most legends figured that out. Nas did, with Anthony Saleh. But outside of that we kept seeing legends get some random ock from the block to do a terrible album cover (see: Capadonna lol) or cheap beats from some terrible producer they found in the city.
Now with AI it feels like the laziness and lack of effort has finally reached an end point. The way it's being adopted across the board by legends tells me it's not these guys saying hey we need to use this. IMO this is being driven by label people, as a test. These legends couldn't find the type of white boy who would say "you ever heard of Madlib?" in 2008, but they all magically found the white boy who says "you should use AI and go on the Joe Rogan podcast" in 2024/2025??? Nah, something is up.
