This is why Erick could easily be thrown into a Top 5 of all-time producer list.

Dude has so many classic beats since '87, and doesn't get the respect he deserves. He can go classic for classic with the best. So it was always dope to see him handling his business properly behind the scenes. Mad people sample his sh*t and don’t even know it's him, until they have to get that clearance.

YES. he is a co-writer

PMD doesn't get the same cut off the EPMD records as Erick does. Erick was the one doing the beats. When he signed with Def Jam for his solo in '93, he was able to get a million dollar advance and strike a deal to get production credit for all of the previous work that was labeled under the group and full ownership of his publishing. PMD went on to sign to RCA, where he had to give up a portion of his. The whole breakup was because Parrish and his dad were trying to steal Erick's bread, lol. That's when E sent them goons.

This is what Erick was talking about on the disses when they first broke up. Def Jam didn't want Parrish anymore, but Erick was so popular at the time, they gave him a crazy deal, and let him steer his own ship. Parrish was hurting for money until they got back together in '97. Which is why I think Erick looks out for him with touring and all that.
