Man when @Napoleon starts going in I learn shyt. Even from the people he engages. :banderas:

Not really.

@Mansa Musa was comparing West African diversity to the diversity of African Americans, not the whole of Africa. A distinction @Napoleon kept failing to make, He was essentially constructing straw-mans and arguing with himself. Typical.

The irony that his argument that results would get more accurate with more samples being in accord with those he adamantly argued with. Sad really.

He also said the Levant and Europe had more indigenous genetic diversity than Africa :mjlol:

Actually yes really. I don't study biology or anything related to half of what the two of them were arguing.
My post was made at face value of the whole thing.

I did see the distinction of what was being compared in each of their arguments though.

I come to the coli for fukkery but still like it when a random argument pops up in a thread.

I can trace my roots back to the saxon era ,because my family name happens to be an olde english name and we descended from the saxons, who were northern european and actually on my fathers side they are all germanic looking to this day . My surname, denoted the fact my ancestors were used to guard farmers fields and forests from poachers. Because of service during a war, a saxon king gave my family land in england ,quite an extensive bit of land, unfortunately it ,means nothing these days, unless I fancy going to war against the royal family, namely prince charles who owns the land they stole from us.

By that statement alone @Napoleon argument can not be credible if he really did state that. No way does Europe or the Levant has more indigenous diversity than Africa when people have been living on that continent far longer, which is why Africans are resistant to most diseases. Europe is the least genetic diverse...

*sigh*

Read what I said.

GENETICALLY, Europe/Levant IS more mixed...but Africans have more unique origins.

I've said this time and time again.

"With advanced testing you can provide a general ancestry indication i.e. Northern European, Western Africa or Middle Eastern and in some cases even more specific," said Mr Nicholson.

"DNA cannot tell you that your ancestors were Viking, simply that your ancestry came from a part of the world common to the Vikings based on historic facts. It's important to talk to the company who provide the testing to make sure your expectations are realistic".

Mark Thomas, Professor of Evolutionary Genetics, Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment, UCL: "Ancestry is complicated and very messy. Genetics is even messier. The Y chromosome and mitochondrial DNA contain little information about an individual’s ancestry. The idea that we can read our ancestry directly from our genes is absurd. In recent months there has been a spate of newspaper, TV and radio stories about famous people being descended from other famous people, or cool groups like Vikings. But these claims are usually planted by the companies that provide these so-called tests and are not backed up by published scientific research. This is business, and the business is genetic astrology.” - See more at: Genetic Ancestry Testing Sense about Science
