You are talking about the same songs where they are rapping about how they live like tony Montana..Bishop in juice ..Etc.

It is the same shyt ...don’t over complicate it
movies can definitely be toxic but it’s different hearing sounds repeatedly giving you affirmations. You can force yourself to personify what’s being said. That’s why Styles P had issues releasing “I’m Black”. You don’t think these white executives know the power of affirmations? Cmon.

The only thing with this argument is a large percentage of rappers advertise what they do as 100% real and not entertainment.
At what point though should we have to hold people accountable for the art and entertain they consume? And their families and educators to let them know what’s reality and what isn’t.

I’m not being facetious. I’m genuinely curious.

Again, I think this was a bigger problem in the 90’s and 00’s, right? Most of the violent content lane is being made by people 25+ and being consumed by people 25+.

The music the younger cats are listening to from what I can hear is more about doing drugs and partying.

And honestly with the opioid epidemic I think that’s as problematic as anything, but I still don’t think I’m in favor of censoring it.

We need more motivational, political and positive raps being pushed to the forefront but nobody is ready to have that discussion. I'm always gonna be a fan of the gritty stuff but you can't listen to all of that stuff forever :manny:You also can't lie and say it doesn't leave a bad effect on listeners. People thrive on that negative shyt.

there’s hundreds of actors who say they’ll be walking on the street and be called one of their characters name instead of their actual name

Alot of Consumers don’t even know the difference, nor do they care

the film industry is the same glorifying shyt as music industry

I do not know about anyone else, but i have been tired of listening to music about drug dealing and killing of black people for at least the last three years. It is not from me "growing up" but more so i could not reconcile the ideas of Black empowerment and improvement with music that has some effect on the negativity in our communities. We all know that at the almost all of Black people's problems are caused by outside forces (Systematic and institutional racism) but we need to look at how destructive music harms us as well.
