However, after a re-watch...it wasnt that bad and was to setup Brad Pitt's character as capable of going ham at the end.

It sucks because there isnt a lot of high quality footage obviously, but I at least thought some of the family would sit down visually and be interviewed and not just do a voiceover (unless that comes later). So far, so good though with setting up the circumstances that eventually spirals into the cultural hurricane that Bruce became.

Yeah, I got that too. But Brad Pitt's character was based on mash up Hal Needham & Gene LaBell. There's an infamous story of Gene LeBell beating up Bruce Lee on the set of a movie, but Tarantino didn't need to make Bruce Lee a complete dikkhead like he did. He could've also went the fukkery route because there's also a story of Gene LeBell choking out Steven Seagal too
