Shaq always had that chip on his shoulder. He shytted on Dwight but they pretty much were in similar situation. On another note ESPN needs to get that 30 for 30 Kobe/Shaq Lakers run together too.

Powerhouse??? How the hell are you defining powerhouse??? Were they putting out top level prospects or winning titles or year after year considered title contenders??? In the 90s it was all about Big East and ACC.
I didn't even realize Shaq called Memphis unknown. I'm going off memory and reaction at the time. Memphis was not a team shown on national TV at the time and did not have a high profile. It's not like today where there is 20 channels to show college games on where if you're considered any sort of prospect people can follow your games. The majority of the nation had barely seen Penny Hardaway play. Hence the label of being an unknown talent. Don't try to rewrite history. Did you grow up in or around Memphis? Cause you know a lot of the packages were based on region in regards to the games that would be shown in each area.
I wouldn't say powerhouse but, Memphis was a known basketball brand during the Coach Larry Finch era.

People tend to forget Memphis was in the NCAA annually in the 70's when it was just 32 teams invited. Several final fours and elite eights and NCAA championship lost to Bill Walton and UCLA.
I'm not even going to mention the 80's when they had some dominant teams consensus # 1 in the polls coaches and AP.(avg in the top 8)Final Four ect... Memphis has a rich basketball history. I see some of you guys are just familiar with the early 90's squad.
