I was at that Lakers-Sixers game when Kobe blocked AI 4x in the second half and held him without a FG

I watched Kobe have to defend Rip, Chauncey, Tayshaun & Corliss Williamson in the finals bc GP was over the hill

I watched Kobe have to defend young Westbrook bc Fisher couldn't stay in front of him

I watched Kob have to defend Melo in the post & then carry the Lakers offensively...he didn't shut him down but he did enough

I watched Kob put clamps on Ray Allen in game 7 of the finals

Top 10 all time among guards in blocks

Retired #15 in steals

Was the best defender on the Redeem Team

Cut the sh*t bc your analysis is looking funny in the light
Iverson had cooked Kobe numerous times before that, even on the biggest stage. They even had to switch Kobe off of him because it got so bad. That's why he was so motivated for revenge.

Kobe played zone on Westbrook. And it was a less developed Westbrook who couldn't shoot from outside. All Kobe did was clog the paint. As usual, the other teams best scorer was guarded by his teammate.

When the fukk did Kobe shut down ray Allen in a game 7? :heh:

Props on the Corliss Williamson reference though. No dissertation on Kobe's defense is complete without bringing up Big Nasty :dead:

Powerful posting. Kobe is also tied for the most NBA all defense 1st team selections . Haters ignore a lot :smugbiden:

Ray Allen shot 3-14 in game 7 and was defended by Kob the entire game...you don't watch b-ball closely enough to remember

Westbrook was still an all star level player back then

Last time I checked, Corliss Williamson was a post player

Yeah AI cooked Kobe which is why Kobe said that fueled him to defend him better

You know Kobe defended KD multiple times right, blocked him multiple times...blocked Yao's shot like 4 or 5x

To suggest Kobe is an overrated defender is clueless, misinformed, absurd & nonsensical

and youre still ignoring why I called him an overrated defender and acting like I called him a bad defender......even after I said that's not the case. I'm saying he wasn't a GREAT defender, and a lot of his all-defensive nods were handed to him on a silver platter because he was the NBA's failed golden bul.

that's the EPITOME of shifting the narrative.

you name-dropping Donnie carr might make me blush, but its not gonna take me off-track.

EDIT: and I see that somebody is saying it better than I did, and they got you in a corner, cuz you cant shift his chit.

That's why I always state the level of def he played as a superstar

What other top 20 player all time checked all the greats Kobe has:
Wade
MJ
Pippen
AI
LBJ
KD
Westbrook
Kawhi
Kidd
Ray
T-Mac
CP0
Franchise
Bibby

I can go on & on

He never defended anyone significant while carrying the offensive load. The top scorer on the other team would be guarded by Artest or they'd have a field day with Fisher. That was always the plan, rest Kobe on that side so he had energy to chuck.

He guarded Wade twice a year and got endless praise for it, like guarding a SG wasn't his job. He would body up on guys like Melo, Pierce, and Durant for single possessions for show and he would get endless praise for that too even though they either scored or got fouled pretty much every time.

Kobe's defense was a myth. Real fans should know that.
I wouldn’t say myth, but Kobe would lock mfs down for single possessions, but he was never really a 2 way player over the course of a game like that.

Kobe wasn't guarding Ray. He was hanging out in the paint getting uncontested rebounds while Rondo was given all the room in the world to shoot. How can you tell me Kobe isn't overrated on defense when you literally go to the box score and claim he guarded whichever guy had a bad shooting night? :what:

shyt like this is why the world is so fooled about his defense. When Kobe was out on an island against a top scorer, there would be oohs and aahs from the crowd and the commentators would talk about how he will not only score 81 on you, he will step out and shut down your best player.

What actually happened is that the offense forced the switch, knowing that its a mismatch because Kobe wasn't the defender artest or ariza was, and the scorer dusted him easily unless he took a foul.

Kobe earned a couple all defense selections. Everything after that was the result of media brainwashing and unbridled dikkriding.

You need to rewatch. I remember being surprised they left Fisher on Rondo. Kobe defended Ray the full game 7 & outrebounded the three HOFers by himself

If Kobe's defense was so great, you wouldn't have to lie.

:dead: at them having Kobe run into screens all day trying to guard Ray. Didn't happen.

I prefer Kobe's game/career over LeBron's game/career so far as of 03-29-2018 but LeBron is still arguably the best basketball in history so far and he may add to his legacy much more with how young he still is.
LeBron feasted on the weak Eastern Conference his whole career.
The NBA arguably should have not allowed any Eastern Conference team into the NBA playoffs let alone the NBA finals with how weak the LeBron James Eastern Conference has been for so long now.
Kobe was a killer in the NBA's Western Conference his whole career!!!

But I guess bc you're 33 you think you know hoops, yeah maybe at a granular level but clearly not at a SME level.

:comeon:

here you go, trying to force another narrative.

I only stated my age BECAUSE YOU ASKED ME HOW OLD I WAS.

stick to throwing up struggle-arguments like the post below:
