Only guys that don’t play ball would put Kobe in the same class as Vince & AI

I’ll keep this brief and name a few notable differences...mainly footwork, defense & post moves

I played.

I actually have kobe a level ahead of vince. but ever since dude on here referred to kobe as "vince carter with rings", I cant resist but to bring vince name up.
its really TMac and AI tho.

and kobe is the most overrated defender of all-time.

Don't know why this is still discussed when just about EVERY player who played against both says kobe.

and this is false.

not to mention, its a pointless argument anyway.

If Kobe is the most overrated defender of all time, you don’t know b-ball

or maybe youre just a dikkrider. I never said he was a bad defender.

dude made a grip of all-defensive teams for no reason.

How old are you?

Kobe is one of the best superstar perimeter defenders in history. Put clamps on so many great players and was never afraid to defend ANYONE while carrying the offensive load. You young nikkas don't know b-ball. Y'all don't know how to play nor analyze the game smh.

I'm 33 and I prolly knew about kobe years before you. I'm talking lower merion.

and I see that you conveniently ignored the explanation i gave behind my statement. with that said, you really have nothing for me. youre just stanning & shifting narratives.

have a bad day.

He never defended anyone significant while carrying the offensive load. The top scorer on the other team would be guarded by Artest or they'd have a field day with Fisher. That was always the plan, rest Kobe on that side so he had energy to chuck.

He guarded Wade twice a year and got endless praise for it, like guarding a SG wasn't his job. He would body up on guys like Melo, Pierce, and Durant for single possessions for show and he would get endless praise for that too even though they either scored or got fouled pretty much every time.

Kobe's defense was a myth. Real fans should know that.

if you know about Kobe at Lower Merion, then you would know about those battles with Donnie Carr or the battles against Chester...or better yet, Kobe playing at Myers playground on 58th st honing his skills. Nobody is switching narratives. As a superstar, Kobe is one of the best perimeter defenders in history. Kobe played in a guard & wing dominated era so of course he can't shut everyone down but a lot of guys had bad nights while being defended by him. The list includes Steve Francis, AI, Ray Allen, Monta, etc...

But I guess bc you're 33 you think you know hoops, yeah maybe at a granular level but clearly not at a SME level.

How many seasons did he play with Artest? He didn't defend the T-Mac's, AI's, Ray Allen's, Westbrook's of the world? Stop talking nonsense. I watched the Lakers for the last 30+ yrs and Kobe was still defending premier players up until he tore his achilles. And even in his last season, he was defending Kawhi, LBJ, KD for whole games. You sound foolish.

Rarely. I think Phil would throw him a bone and let him guard tmac or Wade since those were meaningless games anyway. He was not putting much work in against dynamic scorers.

Remember when he asked to guard Paul Pierce? Phil gave him the :comeon: and told him to keep playing zone against dudes like Tony Allen and Rajon Rondo.

Even late in his career when he got all that praise for full court pressing kyrie and Brandon Jennings all game, he was only in that position because Mike D'Antoni of all people was disgusted with his effort and was looking for a way to get him to have an interest in defense.

I'm going to have to ask you to leave this thread. You are an embarrassment to kobestans.

and youre still ignoring why I called him an overrated defender and acting like I called him a bad defender......even after I said that's not the case. I'm saying he wasn't a GREAT defender, and a lot of his all-defensive nods were handed to him on a silver platter because he was the NBA's failed golden bul.

that's the EPITOME of shifting the narrative.

you name-dropping Donnie carr might make me blush, but its not gonna take me off-track.

EDIT: and I see that somebody is saying it better than I did, and they got you in a corner, cuz you cant shift his chit.

I was at that Lakers-Sixers game when Kobe blocked AI 4x in the second half and held him without a FG

I watched Kobe have to defend Rip, Chauncey, Tayshaun & Corliss Williamson in the finals bc GP was over the hill

I watched Kobe have to defend young Westbrook bc Fisher couldn't stay in front of him

I watched Kob have to defend Melo in the post & then carry the Lakers offensively...he didn't shut him down but he did enough

I watched Kob put clamps on Ray Allen in game 7 of the finals

Top 10 all time among guards in blocks

Retired #15 in steals

Was the best defender on the Redeem Team

Cut the sh*t bc your analysis is looking funny in the light

kobe has 8 or 9 inches on Iverson.

OLD ray allen, and I guess that was too much for kobe because he played horrible on the offensive side of the floor.

young westbrook had an ugly offensive game.

those other guys weren't some juggernauts, except melo, who you admitted he couldn't stop.

of course hes top 10 all-time amongst guards in blocks. he played like the most games and hes taller than 98% of guards.

since hes been back in Cleveland, I agree.
