Philly. Fucc a Eagle. I mean dat.
Yo it’s truly crazy to me how the ESPN machine done literally turned this mothafukka into the second coming of John Madden and based on what? :dwillhuh: dude been living off that glory of bussing the team he got fired from ass in the super bowl, but what did he do after that shyt? It’s perplexing to me as to why he’s such a hot commodity. Chalk it up to privilege? I guess so but it’s just so mind boggling :why:

No talk about "We're not sure if he even wants to come back to football" huh? I guess that only works for certain players :stopitslime:

Gruden will won't coach again. His gig is too good at ESPN to walk away from that shyt. His shtick is that he's one of the 'good guys' in the game, a legend, and one of the best 'QB whispers' around. Now if he were to take the Raiders job, or any coaching job for that matter, if that team ends up looking like shyt, don't make the playoffs, and the QB looks like shyt.. Gruden's entire brand is shot. Not to mention he's also making big money between ESPN, MNF, Gruden's Camp, endorsements, commercials, etc. If he starts coaching and losses his entire narrative changes.
its happening

Nevermind coach, Gruden might be the most overrated person in all of professional sports history :dwillhuh:
Gruden is the most overrated coach of all time

His Superbowl win is the WOAT

Should have been Tony Dungy's championship
Thats a bullshyt narrative. Dungy couldnt win with the team, but Gruden gets criticized and minimized for actually doing what Dungy couldnt. The same Dungy that couldnt beat Philly to save his life, all of a sudden is a sympathetic figure who got forced out when he was on the verge of a championship. The same dude who wasted legendary defenses with Trent Dilfer and Shaun King starting.

Couldn't put it any better. People done let him spittin that x frog cross tango shyt in the both gloss his whole image over. He did his thing that superbowl year but that D was nasty. Id err on the side that the game might have passed his ass by just like the rest of these.old coaches who refuse to adapt and at least incorporate a poetion of advanced offense versus the narrative he'll come back and own the league.

As a raider breh, I'd rather have Gruden than JDR, was never sold on JDR at all, and now somebody needs to rebuild Carr and the offense.

its not a bullshyt narrative

the TB defense was created by Kiffin and Dungy. that was their child. they're the reason TB won the SB in the first place. they're the reason why TB was any good in the first place

yes, Dungy wasnt exactly the best guy in terms of instituting an offense. but that was his OC problems, Dungy is a defense guy

Gruden gets credit for being an offensive-minded genius, when all he did was just install a semi-competent west coast offense with a vet qb. for most other teams, that isnt enough for an offensive guru to do, but in this case it was enough as that 2002 Bucs defense I consider the best of all time and they way they mowed down Gannon in SB was legendary. his same formula that followed in TB was exactly the same: Garcia was decent, but the offense was never really great and any time Gruden tried to change it around he failed.

Gruden gets a credit for revitalizing Gannon's career and making Oakland a contender. But that's where it really stops. His SB win is more of Dungy's work. And when Dungy baggage ended, ie that defense was over, how did the Bucs look ? exactly. pedestrian.

Good but obvious point. Were the Bucs progressing with Dungy or regressing with him?? That same great defense was there when they couldnt beat Philly and Derrick Brooks was complaining about McNabb smiling too much..

And Jon Gruden was the offensive mind guy they needed. While Dungy just wanted to run the ball with Dunn andAlstott and waste years with Shaun King starting.

Brad Johnson had a great year. 22td and 6 picks and also was lights out in all playoffs games. That beautiful crossing route he schemed against Philly was the momentum changer of all momentum changers. That production wouldnt have occurred with Dungy. Gruden also challenged the defense to be greater by motivating them to score on defense. We all know Tampa Bay had a great defense, but if it wasnt for Gruden, they dont win a Superbowl to validate their greatness. Theres plenty of great defenses that are mostly forgotten because their offense couldnt produce enough. From the Sam Mills Saints, the Kevin Greene/Greg Lloyd Steelers, Reggie White Eagles, 2000 Titans, 2006 Ravens, 99 Bills etc..all amazing defenses that didnt sniff a title.

Gruden gets a credit for revitalizing Gannon's career and making Oakland a contender. But that's where it really stops. His SB win is more of Dungy's work. And when Dungy baggage ended, ie that defense was over, how did the Bucs look ? exactly. pedestrian.
The NFL isnt college..You cant treat it like a Butch Davis/Larry Coker situation. If it was all about the system and culture Dungy built, then why couldnt the man himself win with it?? Why did they go from NFC title game to back.to back 1st round exits?

because his offenses weren't cutting it and the defense didnt peak yet. yes, Dungy had shyt offenses and had shyt OCs running them. thats his fault - I agree- but hes a defensive guy and his job he did real well.

look, Im giving Gruden credit for doing a competent job on offense. BUT. realize that if you put that offense on a team with no great defense a ton of people would complain about dink and dunk and mediocre offensive product.

creating an all-time great defense from scratch is much more difficult than turning a shyt offense into a average/passable offense, especially if you get a vet qb and play wco offense.
