Malone number 2 hands down. Only reason he not number one is because he has no rings
Based on what.

Being a top 3 PF in an era full of great ones (early 2000's). Numbers, all-star appearances. Top four player in Kings franchise history (Big O, Archibald, and Richmond) being the other ones. Turning that franchise around upon his arrival. Only thing he missed from his resume is a ring, but it didn't stop Chuck or Mailman from making the Hall.
Good post.Dirk is great but I feel there is a longevity + recency bias (he finally won a chip and did it vs a top level team) that is inflating him. Crazy thing is Dirk's 2011 playoff finals wasn't even what people should remember. 2007-09 was a heck of a run for him too.
To me versatile+dominant at many facets is why I give KG the nod over him. Especially since many, many people argue that KG vs Duncan is close and could go either way, but won't even give Dirk a chance in an argument vs TD. Don't see how Dirk beats KG out especially once we start thinking about "fit" and how they did with their orgs. KG could make a case for having not won a chip sooner because Minny really fukked up. KG is a Tier 1 All Time NBA talent.
Edit: Cats need to stop acting like Dirk was a sieve on defense. He obviously got killed in some schemes vs certain teams but he wasn't helpless or flat out clueless.
Dirk and KG aren't far apart that's for sure. I see the longevity and recency bias and it definitely applies. It probably wouldn't be an argument betweent these two at all if Dirk hadn't won the ring. Then again he really showed out in the championship run and beat an alltime great team basically by himself.
That was so beautiful to watch.Talent wise he should have been. Sheed should have been averaging 24/10 in his prime with 3 assists a couple of blocks and a steal or two a game. He never took that leap though and once he fell in love with that 3 pointer it was a wrap as far as him dominating in the post where he was so effective at.Sheed should have been on this list. Had the talent. Just lacked the consistency and gene to be great/dominant. Played too many head games with the refs, too.
No way in the world his resume isn't better than Pau Gasol, who spent his first years putting up "empty stats" on worse teams than Webber hadThe reasons why CWebb isnt in the top 10 are quite simple.
He spent the first 7-8 years of his career putting up empty stats on trash teams.
His window where he finally became a great player and put it all together was only 2-3 years, but then he ripped up he knee and he was never the same.
At his peak Webb was fantastic, but overall his resume doesnt stand up the scrutiny of the other players who are ranked ahead of him. They all had much better careers.
