Dreams Are Colder Than Death...
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10155320/nfl-hot-read-how-riley-cooper-put-slur-pastA few lockers away, Cooper was talking to reporters before a PR guy broke up the little scrum. Months after he was caught on video uttering a racial slur at a Kenny Chesney concert -- temporarily becoming the most hated man in the NFL -- Cooper is having the best season of his career. He's caught 41 passes, and his 743 receiving yards and seven touchdowns have surpassed the totals of his first three seasons combined.
"I don't know if I'm doing anything different," Cooper said. "I'm just trying to go out there and play as hard as I can."
On Sunday, Cooper jumped into Zach Ertz's arms after Ertz scored a touchdown and helped break up a sideline spat between DeSean Jackson and an Eagles assistant.
Cooper is now being called a good teammate and a catalyst for an 8-6 Eagles team on the verge of its first playoff berth in three seasons.
"We all expected that Riley would come out and have the best season of his life," said Mike Jalazo, Cooper's high school coach in Clearwater, Fla. "Because that's how he reacts to any adversity."
The bolded is basically a microcosm of what the whole article is about. Cooper isn't a victim so why is this narrative of "redemption" or "he's been through so much adversity that it's good to see him excelling" being promulgated?? WTF was the adversity??? Whether alcohol hadn't been involved, he showed you who HE was that night. No 2 weeks away from training camp will change that or make him a better player/man. The only change that came out of this is he may have lowered his alcohol intake and/or he makes sure there's no one out there w/ camera phones when he chooses to use racial slurs. Also, Harry Edwards c00ned it up during this whole Cooper thing and I hate typing that because I really do admire that dude but it is what it is
Mods delete if this thread was already made. I didn't see it if it was

racist guy who couldn't even catch a cold....
