This makes no sense when some ethnic minorities have "white" skin. I tell american bred white people my mix and i get the look. Especially when I let them know my mother is biracial puerto rican.

it's simple, in an environment where people are attempting to do something constructive, Black people can have more productive and meaningful interactions when white people are not present.

if there's a room filled with non white people, a single white person could enter that space and change the entire course of the discourse without saying a single word, just presence alone.
