Compromising oneself due to a lack of knowledge is one path I do not wish on any black man/woman. I'm so glad I grew up knowing what time it is so despite me being into games and electronics, I wasn't on some c00n shyt trying to win the approval of whites and their enablers. I didn't really check out Etika's content aside from a few reaction videos of him for Smash Bros/Nintendo stuff. I didn't even know dude was talking the way he was talking in some of the tweets posted. That's what makes this sadder is it seemed like he kind realized it too late and took the choice to kill himself to escape facing himself which wasn't necessary.
I did follow him, for a while, and I simply couldn't register that shyt he was saying/doing sometimes, one bit. and I know the people he was close to couldn't either. I legit heard him say "are you ni**ering me?" on stream once had me feeling all the way different about him, but enjoyed the shyt he was doing that wasn't THAT bullshyt. I would have loved to support Etika through donation or buying a shirt at least once because I saw him from 0 to his rise, but I couldn't drop a dime on what it was, he was doing. It almost seemed like not even he believed the stupid shyt coming out of his mouth, and knew he was saying it just to appeal to them, especially when he brought up that silly reasoning behind the Pewdiepie shyt.
What's weird is that Etika truly didn't understand the supportive people behind him. People wouldn't have left him if he chilled the fukk out take a step back, and collect himself. People were in chat sometimes telling him to stop all the drinking, people donating him just happy to be a part of the stream. That quick rise to success off that 1 viral Mewtwo vid which is a majority of what people remember about him, wasn't what he was initially about. Dude was actually playing a bunch of different games, and reporting and giving his insight on a lot of Nintendo news, and did pretty funny vids in between. At some point I think it might have been 2016 he dropped ALL that shyt and did a shyt ton of streams straight doing bullshyt for people who were donating HUGE amounts of money to him in a single stream.
The dude truly lost himself through social media and all the people who helped him stay straight were no longer around him anymore. They didn't cut him off, just couldn't get close to him because he wouldn't allow it. So those same people warned his fans to stop meming and telling him he's crazy sending him to the mental ward making him think the conclusion to all his behavior was that he was insane or he would eventually believe it, and those same toxic people his brand bred did it anyway, and even that Keemstar dude who's now doing all that donating was a clear part of the enabling of foolery as well.
TL;DR social media/Internet got people losing their grip on reality but that ain't nothing new.
