Even Socialist parties in Europe are becoming more "right wing"

You remove china from the equation and globalization hasnt done jack shyt for most countries. It's been stagnant.
Poverty rates have literally only gone up since the 80's Last I checked over 50% of the world lives in abject "extreme" poverty. It's insane. If you remove China's explosive growth from the equation, which has begun to flatline, we're literally significantly worse off than we were decades ago.

Which "socialist parties" are we talking about specifically? I didn't see any listed. A lot are only "socialist" in name, and have been for decades (like the french PS).

That being said the most viable distinction to be done on the political spectrum is the attitude towards foreigners, minorities and immigration. All the rest is basically nuances of the same extractivist capitalism that has taken over the world. As such, most serious anti-racists recognize that racism, xenophobia and anti-immigration views permeate damn near ALL parties, sections of the population ("elites", working class, etc) and even minorities who end up adopting the same views as extreme-right towards other minorities and foreigners.
:mjlol: Cite the PS as socialist when they literally have a dedicated Royalist and Catholic (both of which are quite literally diametrically opposed to Socialism) faction and have done nothing but fragment actual leftists off the party since 72 brehs. They're Socialist the same way that "Marxist-Leninism" is Marxist and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea is a Democracy. Words have meaning, the socialist party has been a "broad tent" coalition of an ungovernable mess for the last 50 years, it's why the actual leftists in France have all broken off and it's completely in a tailspin. They haven't advocated for actual socialism in years.

It would be one thing if these threads were made in good faith but for someone as chronically online as Nap is you'd think he'd do basic fukking research to know what he's talking about and incorporate a level of nuance into talking about these things. There's materialist explanations for why things are the way they are.

If you take $5 a day as the real poverty line and exclude these 1.3 billion people then things are terrible... :pachaha:

Exposing the great 'poverty reduction' lie
Nearly Half the World Lives on Less than $5.50 a Day

We've known this for years you idiot. And yes, if you exclude the one country on earth that's showed any reduction in poverty because of it's size and incredibly specific conditions in doing so because it's an aberration to the commonality of the experience for the rest of the world.

I understand learning things and actually realizing the world is complex and organizations like the IMF lie to you but come on, you can at least do basic fukking research to know that the majority of economists think the line for extreme poverty should be closer to $6 a day. Even the world bank says most people live under this extreme condition. Maybe instead of the stupid ass "witty" reply you actually learn something for once.

As a libertarian the IMF should be your fukking enemy anyway and you should implicitly distrust them.

The people who went from 50cent to a dollar a day surely disagree with “things are getting worse”...by imposing your progressive standards on the advancement of others you can make any gains look suspect.
:yeshrug:

I’ll concede, using a single monetary poverty threshold is problematic when applied worldwide, due to the difficulty of comparing prices between countries and what not...fortunately there is an internationally agreed upon poverty line used by the UN.
Ending Poverty

Facts are, more people are literate than ever before, more people have access to fresh water than ever before, more people have access to the information highway than ever before, sanitation is more prevalent than ever before and fewer people are living below the internationally agreed upon poverty line.

To say things are getting worse because the poverty line isn’t set to $6 is to miss much of what we’ve gained in favor of an Anti capitalist agenda.
I refuse to spin more people having access to clean water and sanitation as a negative, just cause the poverty wage has been set by the world bank.

Not sure why you're quoting me because I specifically said that the PS is only socialist in name...
