What are some artists and albums you thought were wack but when you got older you realized you were just to young to witness greatness?

They say you don't know music until you hit 18. Which is what I believe now. I look back on the music I used to listen too... If it wasn't main stream number 1 hits I didn't listen.

I remember thinking Lloyd Banks was wack but now I'm sitting here like :wow: I missed a legendary run.

Ever happened to you?

I was more this way with R&B... definitely grew a greater appreciation for it as I got older. When you're 11 years old hearin' shyt like Ice Cube and Public Enemy, it's just not the same to listen to Babyface nshyt :heh: But I liked R&B of that era more in hindsight.

I wasn't crazy about Ice Cube when I was growing up and I was so young when he was in his prime (I was about 7 years old in '93 when ) that I was a bit dismissive by the time I was a teenager.

It seems like you'll always run into someone saying, "People sleep on Ice Cube because he makes family movies now, but back in the day, he was the hardest out." :shaq2:

In college, I was working a landscaping job and needed music to help the days go back, so I gave a bunch of old West Coast classics a spin. I listened to "Straight Outta Compton", "Amerikkka's Most Wanted", and Death Certificate" back to back to back. Had me wanting to fade anyone for saying anything close to the wrong thing after hearing all of that.

Understanding what was happening during that time and listening to his take on it, all the hype definitely made sense. Young Cube was the truth. :obama:
