Highest paying are probably Ethical Hackers. If that's something you want to get into you need to start down the Security path. Even if you that doesn't sound appealing, there are so many other things you can do from the Security tree. The real money for Security specialist is consulting.

And consulting by nature is not easy on your work/life balance
