Everybodys making great rap records............but its not hiphop - Flavor Flav

From his work withPublic Enemyto his time as a reality television celebrity,Flavor Flavhas always been an outspoken individual with something provocative to say. Keeping in line with that, the 54-year-old artist recently explained why he doesn't believe newer acts are representing true hip-hop.

After performing at the Kendal Calling music festival in England this past weekend, Flav toldGigwise there's a keen difference between the music now and music from his era. "Right now, a lot of rap music today is being created at very low tempos," he says. "There's no more of that, 'Wave your hands in the air, wave them like you just don't care.' You know, something that makes you want get out there and breakdance."

Flav went on to list a number of artists that match this category of rap, includingJay Z,Drake,Kendrick Lamar,Lil WayneandNicki Minaj. "There's not too many great hip-hop records out there, but there are some great rap records," he claims. "Everybody is making great rap records, but it's not hip-hop."

he's not wrong. Rap music today is not Hip Hop, the pocket at the same, that rhythm isn't there
mostly dudes rapping over techno beats. Why do you think that Trap Genre emerged taking the street genre's names
because those beats were always techno anyway
