i dont take it completely out of the convo,but you cant take everything else out either...you gotta factor in image,visibility,how recognziable and known you are among all demographics.

I look at sales and I just see nikkas like J Cole and KEndrick are just smart when it comes to tapping into ignored demographics who ACTUALLY still purchase music....they appeal to older audiences,older black males,more mature females,black women in general,and rap nerds.

im going to take it when he says Kansas,he just means white middle america who doesnt listent to rap.....first off not all of Kansas is like what is shown on SUperman.....but yeah as far as transcending hiphop,outside of Drake i wouldnt say any of these new nikkas out of the current generation do....but Drakes the only one who navigates as a non hiphop artist and can exist as a safe pop star...at least among anybody else near his tier.
