People are just overly and unfairly critical of everything Nas does and it doesn't help when you have big platforms, like Vlad, propagating this falsity that Nas doesn't care about/picks wack beats. He's rhyming at an elite level over really, really dope beats by LEGENDARY Hip Hop producers and there's people hating still. It's fukking ridiculous.

Fam. The nikka was collabing with Ross, He’s on Wayne’s Carter 4, he did features with Young Money, he’s done features with Future, he even dropped a fire verse on a fukkin Justin Beiber song. He worked with Cole. Fam. He was everywhere killing shyt when LIG came out. And there was still nikkas hating.

LIG was nearly a decade ago fam. It's 2019. What has Nas done for young fans since then outside of some weak features on Future songs and Nas Album Done.

He doesn't have a song with Cole, he has a remix.

Yea he has a response not a song with. But still. nikka. Even when LIG came out and he was doing all of what u saying. It was STILL a problem with people. U have people right now who was dikkriding him during LIG acting like he never even dropped it. Or it was some whatever shyt.

That's what I'm saying tho. Cole is a Nas STAN. He might post on The Coli. He loves I Am...he's hardcore. Doing a song with Cole should be a no brainer. Asking Cole for a beat would be a no brainer. I don't even like Cole's production but you know he'd give Nas something that fits, and it would put Cole in his pocket. Q has said multiple times that Nas is his favorite rapper. Kendrick dedicated his Grammy win to Nas and others who never won a Grammy. Why not work with these dudes. Features, and get them on your album. Why not make more relationships with some younger producers...maybe hit up Ross and ask him to exec produce the album. Lot of shyt that could have been done man. That's all I'm saying.

He had Hip Hop exec producing, and that was a brilliant idea...but the shyt never came out. It's like he just went to Wyoming, did that meh album, disappeared, came back with more Illmatic celebrations...and then we got Lost Tapes 2.

Aight I'm kinda lost in this convo Piff, but why should Nas be trying to appease to younger listeners?

I had no idea this show was still on.

Also, shows like Everyday Struggle only cater to the young generation that don't give a fukk about Nas or rappers in his class/peer group. These yougins only know Nas for....

1. The guy that made Illmatic/Only having one good album

2. Not having a good ear for beats (which is false propaganda started by the likes of Dj Vlad)

3. That terrible Nasir album he put out last year with Kanye (Which I put the blame on Ye for being so erratic at that time)

Jay Z in alot of ways have came out looking better post-beef than Nas has in terms of public perception.

The Joe Budden Podcast also contributed to this also with them being pro Jay.

And Im a fan of both....I honestly don't care. I was happy with what I heard on LT2 and I appreciate what Nas did for his fans.

He ain't the type to follow trends and try to stay in the spotlight. Nas has always been anti social to a degree

I'm not talking about appeasing the youth, nobody wants a BP3 from Nas, that album was wack when Hov did it too. I'm talking about appealing to them with some tracks, features, beats they can fukk with. Making new fans is a good idea. Especially when you're a legacy artist because anything that makes people go back and listen to your shyt is a good idea. I get that Nas isn't the most social guy, I'm not saying he needs to be in the club partying with Future. But...if you fukk with someone, work with them. Collab. Meet their producers...lord knows Nas would sound good over some of Kendrick and Q's producers.

My point was simply that while I understand Nas can never be big with this generation because he lacks the hit making sensibilities of someone like Hov, I still think he could have approached this period of his career better and done more to stay in tune with the generation. Especially with so many artists giving him dap and willing to give him assists. No, I don't want a Blueprint 3 type Nas album. But I thought the "Nas Album Done" was gonna be an opportunity to mix old and young, get some features that generate buzz (Cole, Kendrick, etc) and do something big. Big records that you can tour. It didn't happen. I feel it was a missed opportunity.

I dont know if he needed features but I'd like to have seen him release music more especially if its hitting like nas album done or how the rumoured 2016 work was (Which I dont think was showcased that much on LT2)

It's more than media. He has always had better written hooks, better beats, better features, etc. He knows how to craft songs for the mainstream, and has been doing it for decades. That's no fluke, dude. Nas has struggled with that. His attempts at mainstream songs are often pretty bad (You Owe Me, Big Things, Summer On Smash, the Chris Brown joint lol, etc). That's just not the type of artist he is.

I'm not talking about verses or lyrics, just the crafting of a song. A lot of Nas fans don't even care about songwriting, or beats, etc. Similar to Lupe fans. That's not how most people operate or consume music...

Lol at this phony ass Nas fan. You ain’t fooling nobody, you don’t know shyt about Nas. Talking about Nas should do work with Cole and Kendrick like he needs a hit to eat off music when he making X10 the amount doing business ventures and investing. Nas only measuring stick is Jay and he’s been leeching of others(Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Rihanna) for hits this past decade. Meanwhile Nas has been putting out singles of his liking since if I rule the world. You nit picked non singles like summer on smash and big things and ignored his poppin shyt like Daughters, made you look, got yourself a gun, made you look, cant forget about, Hero etc.

This clown stated he a Nas fan to try to disguise his blatant bullshyt false narrative.

That’s a lie. You Owe Me is the only song out of that that was a single and guess what? EVERYONE fukked wit it. Guess what? When he drops it at shows right now the crowd goes crazy over it. shyt was retroactively hated. Jay has had PLENTY of bad beats and wack singles. Dating back to Vol 1. Dont hit me wit that bullshyt because im a real Jay fan I got all his shyt plus his unreleased shyt. I dont even wanna hear it. Thing is Nas has been dropping basically anti singles since Street’s Disciple came out. But what ur saying is a lie. And there is physical proof that it’s a lie I followed both these nikkas careers since the beginning. “Nas fans dont care about beats and hooks” man if u dont get the fukk outta here wit that nonsense. Lol. Tell me now. What the fukk was so much better about 4:44 than Life Is Good? Production, hooks, etc? What was so much better? They used the same producers. Yet they tried to make like Jay made history when he dropped 4:44.

Guy comes off as someone who started listening to rap around MBDTF release and just spews internet agenda comments that’s been posted this past decade. Wasn’t aware of anything pre Kanye West

I said I didn’t hear it. I’m saying I know they love Jay so they are going to be bias.

I don’t fukk with AK opinion on anything.
