Everyone calls their album "classic" before it is released, but what CDs are actually classics?

There has not been a classic album since Lupe Fiasco's The Cool. Everything since then has been graded on a curve because of the lack of quality in recent years. If you stack up what was called a classic before to what we're calling a classic now it's obvious that standard has changed.

C3 and Graduation are modern day classics IMO

I know people will hate this list because it doesn't have Sleepmatic and other bs that nobody ever listens to on it but imo these are the only real classic Hip-Hop albums:

MMLP
Blueprint 1
The Black Album
Doggystyle
Ready To Die
Life After Death
Me Against The Wold
Slim Shady LP
College Dropout
Late Registration
The Chronic
2001
GRODT
All Eyez On Me

I might have forgot a few...but all of these albums are from when Hip-Hop was in its golden age (not the boring-ass old school or the simple new shyt).

:usure:

'Golden Age' was before ALL those albums unless you mean 'golden age' as your own personal opinion in-regards to quality.

Yeah
It's only a classic if it changes the genre.

The blueprint
The chronic
College dropout
808s and heartbreaks
So far gone
Illmatic
Graduation
MBDTF
Get rich or die trying

There's tons more but usually there "game changers". Meaning they changed what the mainstream sound currently was. I don't think record sales always equate to influence or trendsetting which holds more weight in mind opinion.

There's very few artist out these days bawlsy enough to try different approaches these days.
