Random obscure artist : James Ramey aka Baby Huey. Weighing in at 350 pounds , Huey had a voice that rivaled Otis Redding. His style influenced hiphop heavily (no pun intended X2) Huey died in 1970 at the age of 26 from a drug related heart attack. , before his first record was ever released. The song below , "hard Times" was well before its time , and you can definitely hear some elements of hiphop.

Before Melvin Van Peebles came along , you'd be hard pressed to find a black protagonist that wasn't a maid ,or some sort of charity case. These films conveyed ideas of black nationalism and empowerment , never before seen in black cinema.

Its crazy to hear how they talked back then. If you listen to the media , they'll make it seem as if this language is a new phenomenon. We've been calling each-other nikka , and calling women bytches for decades (long before gangsta rap.) Never seen this movie , now I gotta check it out. Props
