It ain't necessarily about being a sport, but its the atmosphere IMO that warrants it being on TV. You have a competition with announcers going over the match, a crowd that gets hype according to the level of what's going on in that match, then you have real rewards for the winners of the match.

ESPN sounds right to me.

It's been about twelve years since the clip of Daigo parrying Justin went viral...inasmuch as a video could go viral in 2004. The people who were kids when that clip spread are adults in the powerful 18-34 demo now and television is going to provide content relevant to them.

Ain't shyt else on sports-wise in the Summer, so they might as well experiment with airing eSports now with a relevant tournament that's relatively low-risk given it's a proven brand. ESPN like the rest of us is curious about the viability and potential of eSports.
