An ex-con who was out bar-hopping was fatally shot in the head after he was denied entry to a Harlem bar for not wearing shoes late Tuesday night, cops and sources said.

Jermaine Smalls, 32, was turned away at the door of Corner Social on Lenox Ave. at W. 126th St. just before midnight for being barefoot.

He then went back to his 2007 Mercedes parked on W. 126th St. to find a pair of shoes. As he was rummaging in the trunk, a gunman in a hooded sweatshirt shot and killed him.

Cops are still looking for the shooter. They do not believe the murder was connected to the incident outside the bar.

Smalls, of the Bronx, has about two dozen arrests on charges including robbery, assault, weapons possession and grand larceny.

He did at least two stints in state prison for attempted robbery and drug dealing, records show.
